Characteristics of SEPA Direct Debits

  • direct debit implemented in EUR based on the payer’s consent in the form of a mandate given directly to the supplier of services or goods (the beneficiary of the payment/debit),

  • SEPA Direct Debits are processed using the payment systems SIPS (operated by Národná banka Slovenska) and STEP2 (operated by EBA CLEARING).

  • there is no limit on the value of direct debits,

  • SEPA direct debits are settled on the side of the payer and the beneficiary on the same day,

  • Clients of Komerční banka Slovakia can use the SEPA direct debit service as a payer (debtor) or as a beneficiary (creditor),

  • the accounts of the debtor and creditor must both be in EUR,

  • If a client of Komerční banka Slovakia wishes to use the SEPA direct debit service as a payer (debtor), they must have signed consent for SEPA direct debit,

  • If a client of Komerční banka Slovakia wishes to use the SEPA direct debit service as a beneficiary (creditor), they need:

    • a contract for this service,

    • an assigned CID (creditor identifier), which is issued in Slovakia by Národná banka Slovenska but must be intermediated by the applicant’s bank, which means clients cannot apply directly to Národná banka Slovenska for a CID,

    • an agreement (mandate) with the payer (debtor),

  • For the purposes of SEPA direct debit payments, client accounts in Komerční banka Slovakia have conditionally open status, with the following requirements:

    • consent for a SEPA direct debit must be submitted in writing or through electronic banking (Profibanka, whereas KB SKyline can be used for authorisation) and signed by the account owner or an authorised person,

    • setting of a limit for each individual direct debit payment and the minimum number of days between direct debits.

Our implementation of SEPA direct debits

  • payments are collected from accounts based on a SEPA direct debit order (order for collection) received from the beneficiary (creditor) and the consent for SEPA direct debit submitted by the client either in writing or through electronic banking (Profibanka, whereas KB SKyline can be used for authorisation).

  • batch orders for SEPA direct debits can be uploaded via electronic banking (with Profibanka, whereas KB SKyline can be used for authorisation) Client – Bank IBAN in XML format (supported version – pain.008.001.02),

  • better management and planning of cash flows.
